There were some weeks between instalments, which was not the case with the third and fourth viral videos titled “Sugod” and “Bagong Umaga” respectively. If at all, it’s something akin to the slow tease culminating in frenzied and frenetic activity (make of that what you will).
“Sugod” takes a different tact from the two previous videos with its doom and gloom atmosphere and instead paints a more optimistic scenery with Chiz himself engaging in community building activities together with its various constituents and stakeholders, an obvious allusion to his philosophy of everyone working together for the common good.
The fantastic/comic elements remain with the glowing speed lines cutting through various scenes and the alibata symbol which has come to stand for the Bagong Sigla movement flickering like a tiny flame alluding to hope.
“Bagong Umaga” dispenses with the metaphors as Chiz gives it to the audience straight up: he can’t do this alone.
Only by working together can we actually achieve something of note and worth. This is a challenge meant for all of us. As much as we are called upon to vote to elect a new leader, our responsibility and duty does not end there. We are called upon to do our share in nation building.
Cheezy? Definitely. But hey, the guy’s name is Chiz after all.
But just because it’s cheesy doesn’t mean it’s true.
